US president requests boosts for fledgling R&D initiatives but is criticised for flat NIH spending

President Joe Biden has released his request to Congress for United States government spending in 2023, including eye-catching increases for R&D initiatives.

But Biden’s request for flat funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH)—the country’s largest research funding agency—has been branded “grossly insufficient”.
