Total R&D spending in Portugal has increased for five consecutive years, government reports

Portugal’s total spending on R&D hit a record high of €3.2 billion in 2020, according to the government, representing 1.58 per cent of the country’s GDP.

On 7 August the government said the 2020 R&D spending was up by 7 per cent on 2019. It said Portugal’s R&D expenditure has now increased for five consecutive years, from €2.23bn in 2015.
