Minister explains what government means when it says it wants UK to become scientific superpower

The government’s ambition of making the UK a “science superpower” is often bandied around by ministers, but what the phrase actually means in practice has been somewhat unclear—until now.

George Freeman, the UK’s minister for science, research and innovation, has offered a detailed breakdown in his evidence given to the House of Commons science and technology committee on 2 February.
