Pension analysis shows positive funding position but pension trustee warns of ‘volatile’ landscape

The University and College Union has said there is “no credible argument” for not returning Universities Superannuation Scheme benefits to their previous level, after an analysis suggested the scheme could be in surplus without the cuts.

But outgoing USS chief executive Bill Galvin has warned the analysis “should not be seen as an indicator of the likely outcome of an actuarial valuation”.
