Institution says it wants “absolute clarity” for higher education sector on implications of court judgment

The University of Bristol is planning to appeal a court judgment that found it made “insufficient” adjustments for the academic assessment of a student who died by suicide.

In 2018, 20-year-old Bristol physics student Natasha Abrahart died by suicide before she was due to give a presentation to fellow students. The university has previously said that Abrahart was struggling with her mental health and had been receiving specialist NHS care at the time of her death.
