Researchers demand Māori values for Māori health

      

Healthcare improvements must include better attitudes to Māori patients from academics and clinics, leaders say

Leading Māori researchers have called for deeper reform of New Zealand’s health research system to make room for their values and beliefs.

In a policy brief sent to the country’s government, they say the national health system still has a “negative approach” towards Māori people. They express concerns that many researchers go to great lengths to highlight inequalities but do little to change the status quo.
