Steven Hill: Next REF should better incentivise review articles

Researchers need to get “credit they deserve” for research syntheses, says a Research England director

More needs to be done to incentivise work on research synthesis and review articles through the national research assessment exercise, a director at Research England has said.

Speaking at an event on the use of evidence in policymaking, Steven Hill, director of research at the funding council, said it is “very important” for policymakers to get a diverse view of all the evidence in a particular field before making decisions.
