MPs query UK government’s ability to respond to pandemics

Government questioned on its coordination of work with regulators, industry and universities

MPs have queried the government’s ability to effectively coordinate a response to a future pandemic following the closure of the Vaccine Taskforce.

The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee wrote to health minister Neil O’Brien, asking him who is providing the leadership within government to coordinate work with regulators, industry and universities to ensure “that the UK can rapidly respond to a new pandemic or pathogen threat”.
