Number of students in England passes two million

OfS data show Russell Group institutions marginally increased their share of students in 2021-22

More than two million full-time-equivalent students were studying at higher education institutions in England in 2021-22, according to data published by the Office for Students.

Statistics published on 8 February show that the number of FTE higher education students at the roughly 400 providers registered with the OfS increased from 1,984,198 in 2020-21 to 2,045,282 last year.
