Of those affected, 70 per cent say the problem is persistent, according to an online survey
About one-third of staff in Irish higher education institutions say they have been bullied at work in the past three years, with most—70.6 per cent—enduring bullying for several months.
This is according to an anonymous online survey of 3,835 staff across 20 higher education institutions in the country. The survey, conducted in 2021 by the DCU Anti-Bullying Centre at Dublin City University, found that minority groups—such as LGBTQ+ respondents, ethnic minorities and respondents with a disability—were “more likely to endure negative acts at work, bullying and cyberbullying, compared [with] majority groups”.
